Financial Strains of Caregiving

Dear Doris,

I quit my job for the second time to be around my father who needs my help. While trying to help him I’ve used all of my savings and I am staying with my sister on a temporary basis. I have other bills and needs that I am neglecting in order to help my father. Are there any orginazations that can help me until I am able to become his care provider? -Thank you, Mary M.

Kinship Caregiving Support

Dear Doris,

My husband and I are raising our two grandchildren due to unforeseen family circumstances. We both work full time, and summer will be challenging when the kids are out of school. We’d like to send them to summer camp, even if it’s at least for one week. Can you point me in the direction of some financial and supportive resources? -Thank you, Cindy and Lou

Becoming a Respite Provider

Dear Doris,

I was a caregiver for my disabled son for many years and I know how difficult that role can be. I’m interested in helping other caregivers and I’m considering finding part-time work providing respite for families. Where do I begin? -Thank you, Mark

Help Paying for a Respite Provider

Dear Doris,

I take care of my father who suffers from chronic heart disease. He lives with me, and I work from home, which allows me to manage both my job responsibilities and his daily needs more effectively, but it can be quite challenging at times. Unfortunately, I don’t qualify to receive funds to hire someone to assist me and provide a much-needed break occasionally. Are there other resources or support options that I might not be aware of that could help ease this situation? -Sincerely, Julie
